Product Information
We've found that when working in complete digital setups, the need for a Channel ID's can be crucial. It can early in the production save you a lot of time. Later, when you need extra time, it’s already done. In analog setups, the issues are the same.
You would think that a test of all individual channels than was a waste of time. "Well, if I have channels 1 and 2, I also have channel 64, right"? Well, yes, but there is more to it than that.
Even coming through one single cable, the 64 channels ends up on a 64-channel board. Are all channels ok on that board? And are they all routed the right way? IN and OUT? And on the other end: "Is the playback system setup correct"? "Are all channels working and routed correctly"? In the recording department: "Am I getting all the channels?" - and "are they getting in where I want them to"?
In the Smart Audio Files Channel ID sessions, the identification are:
laid out with intervals of 3 seconds and '
all fired at once.
If you loop this very first passage in your playback system, you will hear all the IDs at once. Then it’s lightning-fast to go through your board (monitoring system, outboard gear, recorder, or whatever you need to check) one by one. The fact that it’s:
not a human shouting in a mic and
a loop makes it possible for every single engineer on the team to do this test at his or her own time.
